Award-winning writer Allison Alsup lives in New Orleans. She currently writes about cocktails and bars for The New Orleans Advocate and is a regular contributor to Edible New Orleans. Her 2014 Edible profile of New Orleans chef Leah Chase will appear in the Best Food Writing 2015 (DeCapo Press). She is also the co-author of the recently released The French Quarter Drinking Companion, a narrative guide to one hundred bars in America’s most eclectic neighborhood (Pelican Publishing).
Allison holds an M.F.A in Creative Writing from Emerson College and produces literary fiction; her work was selected for the 2014 O’Henry Prize Stories. Several of her short stories have won national contests and several others have been selected as finalists in fiction contests. Among other journals, her work has appeared in The New Orleans Review, The Madison Review, River Styx, Salamander and The New Guard as well as The Best of Philadelphia Stories, 10th Anniversary Edition. She teaches fiction workshops through the Loyola Writing Institute.
